Coomba Falls Rock Balancing #2
A cairn is a man-made pile (or stack) of stones. Man made cairns are used as trail markers in many parts of the world, on mountaintops, near waterways and on sea cliffs, as well as in barren deserts. They vary in size from small stone markers to entire artificial hills, and in complexity from loose conical rock piles to delicately balanced sculptures and elaborate feats. Cairns can also appear naturally due to erosion of the surrounding landscape but are generally referred to as balancing rocks in nature? This one is from an area near Maidenwell Qld at Coomba Falls. Infrared image with post processing to emphasise the rock shape. Will try and post some more later as there were quite a few in the area.
